Oil Pulling: Ancient Ritual, Modern Results
I used to think oil pulling was just another crunchy wellness trend. But after giving it a fair shot, I realized: this stuff works.
For those new to the idea, oil pulling is an Ayurvedic practice where you swish oil (usually coconut or sesame) in your mouth for 5–20 minutes, then spit it out. Sounds weird. Feels weird at first. But stick with it — the benefits are real.
Why I Do It
I keep it simple.
Most mornings, I swish about a tablespoon of coconut oil with one drop of clove oil. Clove is naturally antimicrobial and has this warming, tingly feel — kind of like mouthwash, but without the chemicals.
👉 Here’s the clove oil I use:

I do this while making my tea or prepping breakfast — it fits seamlessly into the flow of my day.
What It Helps With
• Oral bacteria: Pulls gunk from the teeth and gums before it hits the bloodstream
• Gum health: Especially when paired with clove oil (which has a long history in dental care)
• Breath: Naturally fresher, no artificial mint required. (You can use peppermint oil too!)
• Plague and stains: Helps reduce buildup over time, leading to a brighter smile
• Jaw tension: Swishing gently works the muscles and oddly enough, can feel calming
• Morning presense: It’s weirdly meditative… try it and see!
The Bottom Line:
This is one of those low-effort, high-reward habits that’s easy to write off — but once you give it a real try, it sticks.
I’m not saying it’ll fix your whole life. But starting your day with something ancient, intentional, and actually beneficial? That’s a win.
Try it for a week. One tablespoon of coconut oil. One drop of clove.
I think you’ll feel the difference!
